Filmatch ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Filmatch mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

Data We Collect

• Account data: Email address, display name, profile image, and authentication identifiers. Filmatch does not receive your Apple or Google password.
• Movie preferences: Genre preferences, streaming provider selections, and swipe history (likes, passes, and saves).
• Match data: Records of movies matched between paired users.
• Pair connections: Information about your pairing with another user via invite codes.
• Subscription and Drop data: Subscription status, purchase identifiers needed to unlock Premium, preset Drop choices, and optional scheduled times.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to provide app functionality — matching you with movies, generating recommendations, maintaining your shared watchlist, and enabling the pairing feature. We do not use your data for any purpose beyond delivering the core Filmatch experience.

Third-Party Services

We use Clerk for authentication and RevenueCat and Apple to provide and verify subscriptions. We also use cloud infrastructure and database providers to operate Filmatch. These providers may process information only as needed to provide their services to us.

We do not use advertising SDKs or track you across apps or websites. Our service providers may process limited diagnostics needed to operate authentication, billing, and infrastructure. We do not sell or rent your personal data.

Data Retention

We retain account information only for as long as needed to provide Filmatch and fulfill the purposes described in this policy.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. When you delete your account, we delete the personal information associated with your account from our active systems. Limited copies may remain temporarily in secure backups or where required for legal, security, or operational purposes.

Children's Privacy

Filmatch is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
